Lễ Dạm Ngõ (Visiting Ceremony)
The groom's family visits the bride's family with betel leaves, areca nuts, cakes, and wine to formally introduce themselves and ask for the marriage. A quiet, respectful ritual that sets the formal relationship between both families.
Lễ Ăn Hỏi (Engagement Ceremony)
A procession of men from the groom's family carries square lacquered boxes of gifts (bánh cốm cakes, fruit, areca, betel, rice wine) to the bride's home. The bride's family accepts the gifts, and both families formally announce the engagement. The bride is presented in an áo dài.
Tea Ceremony & Ancestor Worship
The couple offers incense and tea at the family altar to honor ancestors and ask for their blessing. A solemn, deeply meaningful moment before the wedding celebration.
Wedding Ceremony & Reception
A banquet reception following the ceremony, featuring phở, bánh mì, gỏi cuốn, and multiple courses. Toasts with bia hơi (fresh beer) or wine flow freely. Traditional music or a live band accompanies the feast.
