A Hindu pre-wedding women's ceremony involving sacred rituals, songs in Hindi, and blessings. The earth (mati) is collected from a crossroads as a spiritual offering.
Welcoming of Baraat
The groom arrives in a procession of family and friends. The bride's family welcomes the party with garlands, tilak, and offerings.
Hindu Wedding Ceremony
Vedic rites around the sacred fire, officiated by a pundit. Includes garland exchange, the kanya daan (giving away of the bride), and the seven steps (saptapadi). A deeply moving ceremony full of Sanskrit chanting.
Reception
A party blending Indian and Trinidadian culture — doubles, roti, curry duck, and soca music. Guests are likely to dance chutney and soca long into the night.
