Dholki (Pre-wedding Singing Night)
Informal gatherings in the days before the wedding where family members sing wedding songs (geet) accompanied by a dholki drum. Each night is hosted by different relatives — lighthearted, joyful, and full of laughter.
Mehendi Night
A vibrant women's celebration where the bride's hands and feet are adorned with intricate henna. Pakistani mehendi nights feature energetic bhangra dancing, neon decorations, and a DJ. Wear colourful — the more, the better.
Nikkah
The Islamic marriage contract signed in the presence of an imam, two witnesses, and both families. The mahr (gift to the bride) is agreed upon. Prayers and Quran recitation frame this solemn and beautiful ceremony.
Baraat
The groom's procession to the bride's home or venue, often set to live dhol music or a brass band. Female relatives dance alongside the groom as they arrive. This marks the formal transition into the reception events.
Rukhsati / Valima Reception
The rukhsati is the emotional farewell of the bride from her parents' home. The valima — hosted by the groom's family — is a celebratory dinner for guests. Expect biryani, haleem, and qorma on the menu, with henna'd hands and embroidered dress everywhere.
