Mairie (Civil Ceremony)
The legally binding ceremony at the local town hall (mairie), officiated by the mayor or a representative. The ceremony is short and formal — guests throw rice or flower petals outside. In France this is the only legally recognized ceremony.
Vin d'Honneur (Cocktail Reception)
A champagne and canapé reception following the ceremony, open to a wider circle of guests. Toasts, bubbles, and delicate finger food set the scene before the dinner.
Wedding Dinner & Bal
A multi-course French wedding dinner — foie gras, fish, roasted meat, cheese, and a croquembouche. The bal (dance) follows late into the evening. La soupe à l'oignon (onion soup) is traditionally served at midnight to revive guests.
