Pamamanhikan (Formal Request to Marry)
The groom and his family visit the bride's family home to formally ask for her hand in marriage. Both families share a meal and discuss the wedding plans. It is a respectful, warm tradition steeped in Filipino hospitality.
Bridal Shower / Despedida de Soltera
A bridal shower or bachelorette celebration for the bride and her female friends, often involving games, heartfelt letters, and plenty of good food.
Church Ceremony
Most Filipino weddings are Catholic. The Mass includes symbolic rituals: the arras (13 gold coins representing shared prosperity), the veil draped over the couple, and the cord or lazo wrapped in a figure-8 around both. A deeply meaningful and emotional ceremony.
Wedding Reception
A joyful Filipino reception featuring lechon (roasted pig), pancit, kare-kare, and leche flan. Guests enjoy games (bouquet and garter toss, money dance), and a DJ keeps everyone on the floor until late.
