Mahaber (Engagement Gathering)
An intimate gathering of both families to formally announce the engagement, share tej and injera, and offer blessings. Elders play a central role in prayers and advice.
Ceremony
Either a Christian Orthodox ceremony or a civil service, depending on the couple's tradition. Traditional habesha dress is common.
Reception
A joyful feast with injera, tsebhi (stews), and zigni. Live tigrigna music and eskista dancing fill the celebration.
Dinner
A final communal dinner bringing both families together for the last time before the couple departs.
