Katb Ketab (Contract Signing)
The Islamic marriage contract is signed in the presence of family, a Ma'azoun (officiant), and witnesses. This intimate event is often held at a mosque or the bride's home, accompanied by sweets and prayers.
Henna Night (Laylat el-Henna)
A women-only celebration the night before the wedding where the bride's hands are decorated with henna. Songs, zaghareet (ululations), and traditional sweets like basbousa fill the night.
Wedding Ceremony
Either a Coptic church ceremony with deep liturgical traditions, or a formal reception-style event following the Katb Ketab for Muslim couples.
Reception (Farah)
A lavish reception with a live band or DJ, belly dancing, and a table overflowing with koshary, stuffed pigeons, and konafa. Egyptian weddings are famously energetic — expect dancing until well past midnight.
