Hahm Delivery
The groom's friends (hahm carriers) deliver a wooden box of gifts and letters to the bride's home. They playfully demand payment in cash and food before handing it over — a fun, raucous pre-wedding tradition.
Wedding Ceremony (식장 결혼식)
A contemporary Korean ceremony often held at a wedding hall (wedding palace) with an officiant, wedding march, and vows. Short and efficient — many Korean ceremonies last under an hour. The couple may wear both hanbok and Western dress.
Paebaek (Family Bow Ceremony)
After the ceremony, the couple changes into traditional hanbok and performs a deep bow (paebaek) to the groom's family. Elders throw dates and chestnuts for the bride to catch in her skirt — symbolizing fertility. A private, moving family ritual.
Hanjeongsik Reception Dinner
A wedding banquet featuring traditional Korean cuisine — galbi, japchae, bindaetteok, and rice cakes. Modern Korean receptions often blend traditional food with a contemporary venue and DJ.
