  1. Knocking Ceremony (Kokooko)

    The groom 'knocks' at the bride's family door to formally ask for her hand in marriage. His family arrives bearing gifts — schnapps, drinks, and a list of items specified by the bride's family. It is an intimate, solemn gathering that sets the tone for the marriage.

  2. Traditional Engagement (Éngagement)

    The full traditional marriage ceremony where bride price items are presented, prayers are said, and the couple is publicly joined. Guests dress in vibrant kente and other Ghanaian prints. Expect drumming, dancing, and communal feasting.

  3. White / Church Wedding

    A church or civil ceremony in Western dress, often held the day after the traditional engagement. Formal attire, flowers, and vows characterize this event.

  4. Reception

    A celebration blending Western banquet elements with Ghanaian flavour — highlife music, jollof rice, kelewele (fried plantain), and heartfelt toasts.
